Youth Rowing/Crew League
Youth Crew League is a recreational, noncompetitive, coed program for rowers who have completed Youth Learn to Row. Crew League builds upon and continues to develop and refine the basic skills acquired in Learn to Row. Rowers will move from the barge, a skill development tool, to rowing in eight-person training shells. Crew League athletes learn posture, balance control, timing, and touch through interactive games and activities. They gain proficiency in rowing terminology and begin to apply the developing skills to the sport of rowing.
Crew League is offered in the spring and fall in two-day (T/Th) or three-day (M/W/F) after-school sessions for six weeks and in June as a two-week, pre-summer session (M-F 9 am-12 pm). The two-day option is recommend for rowers aged 12-14 and the three-day option for rowers aged 14-16.
Crew League rowers who would like to continue rowing during the summer are eligible to sign up for our Summer Skills Development Clinics, in which they continue to build on rowing technique, boat skills, safety rules of the river, and fitness. Summer Skills Development Clinics are offered in two-week sessions, M-F from 9 am-12 pm or 1-4 pm.
